INSTALLING AUDIO DRIVERS IN WINDOWS NT
This package is to be used ONLY with Intel and Intel-compatible x86 PC systems.
NOTE: Please refer to your Getting Started manual if you need instructions on
physically installing your Creative audio card into the system.
This README file provides instructions on installing Creative audio drivers
into Windows NT 4.0 for the following types of system configurations:
A> Installing Creative Plug and Play (PnP) audio cards on
systems with no Creative audio drivers installed
B> Installing Creative Plug and Play (PnP) audio cards on
systems with old Creative audio drivers installed
C> Installing Creative Legacy audio cards
D> Installing AWE Control Panel (for SB32/AWE32/AWE64/AWE64G only)
To properly select the best section of installation steps to follow, use
these guidelines:
1) Open the Multimedia applet. This can be done by clicking on Start,
Settings, Control Panel, and then double-clicking Multimedia.
2) Click the Devices tab of the Multimedia applet, and double-click
the Audio devices line.
3) If one or more of the following devices are installed:
Audio for Creative Labs Sound Blaster 1.X, PRO, 16
Audio for Creative Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32
Audio for Sound Blaster 16
Then you will need to remove your current audio drivers before
continuing. After removing the drivers follow the instructions in
Section C, Installing Creative Legacy audio cards.
4) If the device installed states the following:
Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 PnP
Follow the instructions in Section B, Installing Creative Plug and
Play (PnP) audio cards on systems with old Creative audio drivers installed.
5) If a message box appears and states the following:
There are no devices of this class installed in your system
Follow the instructions in Section A, Installing Creative Plug and Play (PnP)
audio cards on systems with no Creative audio drivers installed.
A. INSTALLING CREATIVE PLUG AND PLAY (PNP) AUDIO CARDS ON
SYSTEMS WITH NO CREATIVE AUDIO DRIVERS INSTALLED
1. Switch on your computer and log on as an Administrator.
2. If the New Hardware Found message box appears, skip to
Step 4 to install the Creative Audio Drivers.
Otherwise, it means that the PNPISA.INF driver has not
been installed in your system. Proceed to Step 3 to
install it:

3.1 Insert the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

3.1 Insert the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
The following is the important information of Creative Blaster Key MP3 installation driver.

Important! These instructions may not be applicable to other audio devices.
- Click on Download Now and a File Download box will appear.
Select Save This Program to Disk and a Save As box will appear.
Select a directory to save the driver in and click Save.
Locate the driver file using Windows Explorer when the download has completed. - Running the downloaded file will extract all the driver files and setup program into a directory on your hard drive.The directory these driver are extracted to will have a similar name to the Blaster Key MP3 model that was downloaded (i.e., c:Blaster Key MP3). The setup program will also automatically begin running after extraction.However, automatically running setup can be unchecked at the time of extracting the driver file.
- Turn your computer power off.
- Connect the Creative Blaster Key MP3 to your computer.
- Turn on your computer. When the Blaster Key MP3 is first connected to the your computer, the Windows dialog called 'Add New Hardware Wizard' will appear automatically. (To display this dialog manually, you can choose the Startbutton and then Settings to access the Control Panel, and then double click on Add New Hardware. The Creative Blaster Key MP3 needs to be connected first.)
- The Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box guides you through the driver installation process. Click on Next to move from step to step.
- A dialog states 'Windows will now search for any new Plug and Play devices on your system'. Click Next.
- A subsequent dialog gives you these options:Search for the best driver for your Blaster Key MP3 (Recommended)Display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select thedriver you want.Please accept the recommended choice by clicking on Next.
- The Wizard will then search your hard drive for a file called ..... *****.inf (for example Blaster Key MP3.inf). This file contains all the information that Windows needs to install the correct device drivers.
- If during installation in Windows, you will be prompted with a message warning that the driver software has not passed Windows Logo testing. Select Continue Anyway and proceed with the installation. The driver is completely tested and verified by Creative, and safe to use.
- When you see the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard screen, click Finish to complete the driver installation.
- Once the installer has finished copying the files. You will see the Installation Complete screen. Click Finish.
- Windows will automatically continue to install the driver for Creative Blaster Key MP3.
- After you complete driver installations, you should restart your computer.
- After restarting Windows, you will see the Creative Blaster Key MP3 panel icon in your system tray (lower right corner of your desktop). Click on the icon to open the Creative Blaster Key MP3 panel.
Search and consult the Readme file for additional installation drivers instructions for your Blaster Key MP3.
- Go to Device Manager, check the devices under 'Sound, video and game controllers'. You will see the Creative Blaster Key MP3 if you have completed the installation process correctly. Your Blaster Key MP3 is ready to use.
